A Clarification from
the Owner, Publisher, and Editor
of the Biker eNews

The Biker eNews as an entity doesn't have a chosen political party. We support the Constitution of the United States and those things that help motorcycling. I am sure many of you don't read these pages for political commentary, but you do expect us to keep you informed about what may or may not affect your ability to enjoy motorcycling. I try to keep you informed about bills and legislation that affects us and our sport. That's a lot of stuff to do, and I rely on several sources for that information.

The groups which keep me informed on issues pertaining to motorcycling all have their agendas, sometimes it looks as though we support them fully but we don't. Obviously they will tell us those candidates we should look at because they support our sport. They may or may not be your choices, or affiliated with the party of your choice.

I publish what they send in accordance with the policy I instituted when I took ownership of the Biker eNews:

"Write it, send it and we will publish all stories and other written matter you submit, on any subject you like as long as it's motorcycle related. Don't be afraid to send pictures. Please remember to keep it as close to G rated as you can." Which is the first line on our Stories, News, and Entertainment page, it also says on the same page, "Any opinions, statement of facts are those of the authors, if you don't agree feel free to respond and correct their errors".

If you disagree with any of the information on the Biker eNews feel free to email us and let us know. But please remember it may not be our opinion you disagree with. When you read political information on this site always remember, if you don't agree that's OK, we always have room to publish dissenting opinions.

In the article "It's Almost Time" it was pointed out that it was not non-partisan and that all of the candidates listed were Republicans. This I didn't know, in fact there was only one candidate on the list that I even knew; and until it was pointed out to me I didn't know he was a Republican. Ok shame on me.

In her response to the question, "Could you please tell me if any of the candidates you endorse are Democrats, and if so, please tell me which ones", the author responded, "There are no democrats on the list I sent out. The VFR is non-partisan with regard to politics. We endorse candidates that are biker friendly and that we believe will support our issues concerning motorcycle safety and civil liberties."

It was suggested to me that we are being duped into free advertising for these Republican candidates; maybe so. But the VFR as I know them will support anyone regardless of the party they're affiliated with as long as they're biker friendly, and it makes sense for them to do that. They are very active lobbying in Richmond on issues which pertain to motorcycling, esp. the repeal of Virginia's helmet law. For them not to support or endorse any delegates or senators who are sympatric to their cause would be unproductive.

I would hope that you the reader, as an intelligent informed voter will base your choices at the polls on the man or woman who will best serve and support those issues which are important to you.

One of the things about living in the United States is being able to have some influence on our government. You may think your vote is unimportant, when you consider the numbers of voters it takes to elect one individual to any public office; but believe it or not your vote does count!

Remember that all of this is meaningless if you don't vote.
