Timonium, MD Motorcycle Show

Phil,
This weekend I attended the Timonium, MD Motorcycle Show. I saw the ad in Motorcycle Monthly and decided to take a trip up there. The DC International Motorcycle Show was kind of downscaled this year and I was left wanting more. For me, the Maryland Motorcycle Show was worth the trip. I have included a few pictures of Dave Perewitz and Michelle Smith; also a "Then Came Bronson" pic and a couple of unusual models. Sorry for the blurry quality of the pics, it was hard to get the pictures with the crowd of people.

The trip up is about 1 hour longer than the trip to the DC Show. It is a very easy route: west I-64, north I-95, I-695 towards Towson, and then two miles on I-83 north. All interstate and the roads were clear and dry. The Maryland State Fair Ground is the location of the show. There is a large one story warehouse-like building that is used for the show. The building is huge! It was divided into three areas: center as you enter was H/D, Victory, BMW, and the food court. To the left there were Metrics & British Bikes and vendors. To the right were customs & antiques...and more vendors. It took about 4 hours to see it all....and I could have spent the entire day there.

The difference between this show and the DC IMS was: this was a potentially a sales environment. They had unbelievable prices on some of the metric bikes. I had to ask the reps if they were mistakes. I saw a Kawasaki Nomad, 2009, for under $11,000. That bike has an MSRP around $15K. There were a lot of good buys on clothing and accessories. If you need to stock up on gear, this is the place.

I had a really good time. On the way home I called the show and asked to be put on hold for a few minutes so I could listen to what you were talking about. Around Fredericksburg I was able to pick up the AM 850 signal. When I called in and talked with you I was using a hands free cell phone device. I wasn't "driving hands free" like Mike joked.

I recommend you stay overnight; it is not an "up & back" one day trip. There were some good hotel deals in the area.

Hope to see you soon,

Doug VB
