Re. Suspects have ties to biker clubs 7-19I am writing in response to the article in the Hampton roads section "METH RING SUSPECTS HAVE TIES TO BIKER CLUBS"." I would first like to make it clear that the Southern Riders Motorcycle Club mentioned in the article does not engage in nor condone the distribution of any illegal substances what so ever. Drug use/possession is strictly prohibited on club property and at club functions. It is made clear to all new members that we are not an "outlaw club" and anyone who participates in any illegal activities will be immediately kicked out of the club and banned from future club functions and said properties. It should also be noted that David "Easy" Lilla was a Southern Rider M/C member at one time but is no longer with the club. The Southern Riders Motorcycle Club is just that, a motorcycle club. We are not a hate group, racist organization or a white supremacist group as some people would have you believe. We promote brotherhood and the enjoyment of riding motorcycles. I can't help but be curious about Mr. McGlones motives for mentioning our Web site "that prominently displays the Confederate flag". He neglected to mention however that our patch also displays the American flag. I can only assume that fact was not negative enough to print. I take exception to the negative image placed on the Southern Riders M/C because of the alleged illegal dealings of others. Robert O. aka. "Opie" |
