Help needed for litigation
over Suzuki frame failures

The following are actual accounts of Suzuki GSXR 1000R motorcycle's frame breaking in half while the motorcycles were being ridden. In one story no one was seriously hurt, in another one the rider died from injuries incurred from the resulting crash when the frame cracked in half.

This happened again in Chesterfield, Virginia to another rider who is looking for other documented cases of 2006 Suzuki GSXR 1000R frames breaking. So far these have been rare; there are no recalls for GSXR 1000R frames.

If you have any information concerning Suzuki GSXR 1000R frame failures please use the form at the bottom of this page and contact us.

Hey just had my 2007 gsx-r 1000 break in two right down the weld's. the 07 frame is a little different than the 06 but was not welded correctly. I've gave pictures to many different pro welder's in my area and every single one of them was suprised to see me still alive and say there is noway that a weld should ever break especialy the way this did. Perfect split right down the center of the weld on both sides of my bike. Suzuki dosen't see much of a problem with it so far.

My riding buddy is in the hospital as I write this with some bad road rash and a shattered arm as a result of his frame breaking on his 06 1000, I have pics but there is no way to send them without your email, feel free to contact me,
Thanks, Matt.

Man Claims Motorcycle Broke In Half

June 2, 2006

Nick Jerard claims his motorcycle broke in half while he was riding it – sending him to intensive care. He also says that several other riders report similar ordeals – but the manufacturer won’t do anything about it. Channel 2 found a number of complaints on the internet about frames on that 2005 model Suzuki breaking in half under seemingly normal conditions.

Suzuki officials did not return our calls.

Jerard, who bought the model during its first year of production, says his snapped while he drove it at about 25 miles per hour.

It takes two people to wrestle what remains of his prized motorcycle out of the garage.

This time last year, the 21-year-old and his dad bought a Suzuki GSXR 1000 – touted then as the fastest production bike on the road.

The aluminum alloy frames made it light, and the Jerard’s say, more susceptible to frame problems.

Two months into ownership – Nick landed in intensive care.

“I was moving my brother’s stuff, I pulled out of the driveway, it fell apart on me from there,” Nick says.

Less than 100 yards from his house, you can see the trenches carved, Nick says by the muffler after the frame below him snapped in two, and sent him flying.

After several weeks of recovery, and $7,000 in medical bills, Nick says he and his dad started inspecting the bike. They spotted a hole drilled into the frame for his horn.

When they tried to get the bike repaired, they say initially, Suzuki seemed cooperative. Jerard says after he raised that question, Suzuki officials refused to repair his bike.

I am an attorney who practices in Florida. I also ride. I ride an Aprillia and have a CBR 600 track day bike. Anyway, I recently took on a client who crashed his 2006 GSXR 1000. We believe that the frame failed. No one wanted to take his case because no one believes the frame just failed. I had a friend look at the bike (racer/mechanic) and he states that he has never seen anything like it. He thinks the frame failed. So do I. My client will soon be taken off life support. He will leave a wife and children behind.

I have seen some postings talking about this problem. If anyone can help with pictures or contacts concerning the issue I would be very thankful.

Please email me or call with any information.
Thanking you in advance.

This article was sent to me by friends. I have a 2006 gsxr-1000 and was riding in NYC, and hit a nasty pothole and my frame just snapped, thankfully I wasn't going too fast and had on my suit, or else there would have been more threatening injuries. My bike sits in my garage as bike season approaches us (in NY) I don't know what I am going to do...
