Have you ever gotten to a point where you just want to say forget (being nice) it, walk out and put you "broken" bike on a trailer and take it home? Well that's the experice I had with this service station. The work was never completed when promised and every time I called or went by, the owner had a different excuse. When I finally picked up the bike, my brand new paint job was damaged in several places, there was a fastening bolt missing off the seat, there was no fuel in the tank (it was full when I dropped it off), the brake lever was broken (I had the master cylinder replaced but the broken, plastic one never was not replaced with the original metal one, which could not be found), one of the mirrors was missing, which could not be found AND he tried to charge me $200 more for parts I did not recieve. I have tried several times to get the mirror and lever back from him, but they can not be found. A couple day fix ended up being about a month; maybe it was just me??????

Phil, just wanted you to know that I got some satisfaction from Scorpion Engineering in Newport News. I sent him a bill for all the replacement parts and he paid it! I was totally shocked to get the check; guess he knew he screwed up bad. Have a great day and ride safe!

Casey Cycle City
634 J Clyde Morris Blvd Newport News VA

Now for something I don’t normally do, heap some praise on a dealership, recently actually over the last year I have been dealing with Casey Cycle City for parts for my CBR and some other projects. I am really amazed how cooperative and friendly they are. The parts department is knowledgeable and professional; always trying to help you the customer get exactly what you want or need.

Now all the folks I have dealt with over the counter at Casey’s have been helpful but if you stop in there and need some help in the parts department ask for Audra, she will impress you with her knowledge and bright spirit.

Now I have been dealing with several shops over the last couple of years, which know me well, and I always get good service, personal service of course after years of developing a professional relationship with them, you come to expect this.

None of them have ever called me to let me know when the parts I ordered came in, Casey’s Parts Department does.

Now as most of you who read my Last Page commentary know I bought my new R1 at Casey, I could have possibly got it cheaper if I traveled around and looked but being the shop is only 1 mile from the house, I figured I saved myself a lot of money not traveling around. Actually the markup on the bike was about $200, not enough to quibble over.

The salesman Jim was excellent, he worked with me to get the deal done in a couple of hours and I rode home with the new motorcycle and a grin.

Would I do it again, yes I would. Now your wondering why I think this is strange to praise them, my dealings in the past with this particular dealership were not all that stellar.

I had a very old Honda CB 500, which I needed to get inspected; their Service Manager at the time gave me a dozen excuses why they couldn’t do it right after he said no problem. One look at the old bike and he wanted no part of it.

On another occasion, trying to buy a motorcycle there, the treatment we received was pretty poor; we were ignored and made to feel like we were interfering with the sales staff’s bull session. It was their loss because instead of buying the new Gold Wing I wanted, I went over to Hampton Roads Harley Davidson and bought one of my all time favorite bikes a very nice Electra Glide ultra Classic.

So my coming back to them was with great trepidation, and caution. I guess everyone and even dealerships can change.
