THE ANNUAL
"VIRGINIA BEACH BIKE CLASSIC"
WAS INTERESTING

I have a good time at all bike events; it's a sliding scale from "Good" to "Whoooo". I stopped by for awhile on Friday evening, just to look the place over. it was kind of quiet, I think the weather put a crimp in everyone's willingness to venture forth.

Saturday the weather was a lot better, and I headed on over to Iron Core to meet up with the rest of the guys. We had planned to participate in the parade from Bayside HD to the campground. As you can tell from the picture, the attendance was a little thin.

The crowd at Bayside however, was quite good. Lines and lines of bikes already in place when we arrived. The ride to the campground was fully escorted, and went pretty well. We had full police escort, and they blocked all the intersections and on ramps to give us a clear shot. As with any of these large rides, there are a few idiot cagers that don't understand a police unit with flashing lights, and a couple managed to force their way past and get on the road with the parade. We did manage to arrive at the destination with no incidents that I am aware of.

Part of the route took us along Atlantic Avenue, from 22nd Street to the last through street before Rudee inlet. Remember a few years back when the city tried to ban bikes?

The remainder of the day was spent wandering around, looking at bikes, hanging out (important stuff). I spent a little time watching the fun at the "Dunk Tank". It was directly across from the "H A" support booth, and they were enthusiastic participants in trying to "Get Her Wet".

I stopped by the "D & D" cycles booth, they are going to have a demo day at Boneshakers. It will be on Friday the 13th, and Saturday the 14th, which is next weekend if my calendar is correct. The requirements are: valid motorcycle license, 25 or over, with helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. I am going to make one of these days, the new Triumph triple, AKA "Rocket III" is one of the demo bikes, and I just have to try it. The chart shows all the bikes that will be on hand.

That's all for now, ride safe.
