The Shovelhead Diary II

18 June 2005

It's been some time since I gave you more than a passing description of what's going on with the Shovelhead project. As you can see we got the frame back from Peninsula Custom Coaters. Art did an excellent job on the frame as you can see. You can see difference when you look back at the earlier pictures of the frame and see what he started with.

Of course the pictures on this page show a lot more stuff added to the frame. We are now in the process of fitting every part to insure we have all the fasteners and parts in the right place. As we fit parts we are also finding more parts which will have to be carried back to Art coating to match the frame.

You can see that the fork sliders look a little different as well as the front brake backing plate. We spent a lot of time buffing and polishing. We've spent a lot of time wire brushing the rust off of some of the bolts and parts we will have to use over.

You may think we have a lot of pictures of the same thing but they are for reference. We have been fitting up parts and finding out what fits and how it goes together. Yep, we done forgot how we took it apart, but if you look at the piles of plastic bags we have full of nuts and bolts, and parts you would be just as dumbfounded, and that's that every bag is labeled where they came from.
