Labor Day weekend was a special event at Slades Park. There was a two day competition with 4 wheelers racing on Saturday and 2 wheelers racing on Sunday. All classes were double loss elimination and double purse. When we went to register, we found out that it was also double the entry fee. The crowd was a good size for both days. We arrived early afternoon to watch the 4 wheelers. I figured it would be a good day to start collecting pictures and stories to share with you during the winter months. It was a fun, relaxing day. There was even a couple hours of practice rounds after the race competition had ended. There were 70 registered riders and 8 different classes.
Race Results from August
30th Sunday morning arrived with a thunderstorm and light rain. We figured we would just stay in bed and watch a movie. Perfect way to start a race day. Everything started on time and we were finished racing around 5 pm. Again, it was a good size crowd. There were 83 registered bikes in 12 classes. There were 19 bikes in the 250 350 class!! They made a special class for 750cc who usually compete in the 500-601 class.
The Rannings Racing crew had a pretty good day. Bill got a second place in the Top Fuel B class on Paul Williams bike. Jesse got second in the Hog Gas and first in the 500 class. He really had to work for the 500 class. It was tough racing the whole day. Jacob technically got third in the Hog Gas even with driving home to get another coil before the racing started!! There were plenty of new faces both days. You can tell a rookie real easy when he sits at the start and doesnt light the staging light! Rookies always add an interesting element to the racing, usually comical. Thank goodness there were no wipeouts or on track incidents. I have to congratulate Paul and Jason Plummer for their first place finishes in the Top Fuel A and Top Fuel B. The #1 bike that Doug Allen rides broke before the last Top Fuel A pass but Paul might have had something for him!! I catch heck now and then for keeping that gorgeous yellow bike on my report page. The rider way back when was Todd Leatherman. Todd was at the track (not racing) this weekend with his adorable 18 month old son. If you ever wondered if Dirt Drag Racing is a family sport, take notice of the names below!! There are 5 father and sons and one set of brothers that placed. That doesnt count all the family members that competed but didnt get first or second. Half the fun of race day is having family and friends with you to help cheer and celebrate!! The next race is September 14 with September 21 as the rain date. Race Results from August 31st
