Report #2 - 08
March 12, 2008

The first race of the season was scheduled for April 20th and was rained out. The rain date was April 27th. The weather was cool with drizzle and not much sun. But we got the race in and finished about 7 PM. There were several new faces on the track staff. We appreciate all their efforts. If there is anyone that doesn’t race but would like to help make race day happen, just see Joe Brookman at the next race!!

See race results at the bottom of this report.

I have to apologize for this report being so late. I try to get it in the Tuesday or Wednesday after the race. As most of you know, there was a tornado that ripped through Suffolk on April 28th. Please keep these folks that have had their lives turned upside down in your prayers. My other volunteer position is on the American Red Cross Disaster Assistance Team. With 2 days of long hours helping out, I got way behind at work and home. My family visits on Mother’s Day weekend for Jesse’s birthday, so I haven’t had the spare time to get this report to you!!

Driver Lane, Burnett’s Mill & Hillpoint

We would like to recognize the sponsors that help finance the race. We appreciate the support and would like to support them in return.

Patrick’s Restaurant - Richmond, VA
Gulliver Cross Flight – Chester, VA
Departure Bikeworks - Richmond, VA
All Virginia Environmental – Smithfield, VA
Little Gift Store – Richmond, VA

If you know of a business that would like to help out, we are looking for many that would have a 4 X 8 piece of plywood painted with their information to be mounted on the fence. It helps advertise the business and would add some safety to the fence line. The business would need to contact Joe for more information 804-221-3959.

A view from the start line

There were 21 classes with 138 registered riders. That was a pretty good turnout for a rain date with a questionable weather forecast!! The next race is May 18th which is right around the corner!! Come out and join the fun.
