Second Race under our belt!! What a trip!! The crowd was great and the weather was beautiful, except the wind. That fine sand sure can blow around!! It was an important day for Air Filters to protect the bikes internal workings. We decided to try out the new toy hauler and camped Saturday night for the first time. It sure beat getting up and rushing around in the morning to only get to the track later than we intended to.

Some of you may have noticed the "New" Track Rules I posted on the report after last month. People don't like rules and people don't like change. If there was something you saw or experienced that you didn't like, the man to talk to is Joe Brookman. His email address is Trusmejoe@aol.com and his phone number is 804-221-3959. I am only the person that puts the results and my opinions in print for ya'll to read.

The main change that our crew didn't like was that if there are more than 10 bikes registered in a class, it is single elimination. In the 351-500 Class, Chris went up against young Dan Fowler in the first round and only lost by a bit, but his day was done. Then Jacob got into a deeper rut than he realized at the line and red lighted. We had 5 bikes in our group and 2 were out after the first round!!

Our big fun was Bill winning in the Hog Gas Class. There were 5 bikes this time. It was great to have Ron Bommer, Butt Crack Racing, back at the track. His luck didn't travel with him but we were glad he was there!! 8 Ball has been a difficult competitor to win against but yesterday was our day. Paul Williams made his debut on his new/old bike in the Top Fuel B class. His head will be in the clouds for a while with his first place finish. He got to take home a huge trophy instead of passing them out to others for once!!

Pro Gas

I spoke with the web boss, Phil Floria, last Tuesday at Tidewater Motorcycles' Hot Dog Social. Thank you to all that visit my report and make it the most popular on Bikerenews. I have to remember that when I get frustrated with some of the comments and wonder if all this work is worth it. There were many feedback comments after April's report. The boss is going to send me all so I can share them with Joe.

To answer one person in particular, "WV Fan", that said I was doin' some "home cook-en" with the results from Brian Moody's pass that was a 3.8 second in April, I heard it from the tower. I also spoke with the crew yesterday to make sure of what I heard. There is no tape print out but you can get your time from the man that runs the lights right after the race.

500 Class #000 & V6

I took 65 pictures in April, the ones that come out the best are the ones that appear on my report. I am still looking for the right one to replace Todd Leatherman's Yellow Suzuki that has adorned my page for the past few years! And so you know, Todd is from West Virginia!! The only team I am truly partial to is my own, Bill Rannings, #96 in Hog Gas, Jacob Rannings, #V6 in the "500" Class, Chris King, #97 in the "500" Class, Chad Wright, #C7, in the "250" Class and Joe Honeycutt, #38, in the "250" Class. Everyone else is just great people that I have met at the track!!

To the person that didn't think the class arrangements were fair; talk to Joe. There is no way we can have a class for "stock" and one for "modified". That is impossible to monitor with such a small track staff. And I don't recall stock 4 wheelers going up against Herbie and Demont in the Extreme Class. That is why it is called extreme!! Joe is the one that changes the rules. If you don't like the way things are, you don't have to come back. I can't see where Newton is any better, but have at it. I hate bracket racing and won't waste my time on it.

Top Fuel A #191 & 10

I have a great round of pictures that will be with this report. I sure hope you enjoy them. There were 159 registered bikes last month, 107 in the 2 wheel and 52 in the 4 wheel. Yesterday we had 147 with 92 in the 2 wheel and 55 in 4 wheel. The next race is Father's Day, June 17th with a rain date of June 24st.

Karen,
I think the banner at the top of the Web page is just fine. LOL

I have been to newtown and slades and newtown is a far better track with better payouts. Track is much better and smoother, slades is like a death trap with crowd right on the fence and could easily get injured from bike parts. As far as the rules, for the 4wheel class the sign says any mods done besides tires is considered extreme. Well what if its a stock motor and all but have pipes, its no way for them to be able to run against extreme bikes. The one lost is really stupid, you pay $10 to race and $15 to get in for one pass and then go home if you lose, really stupid. There were over 20 bikes in 250 dirt class and only paid $30 to win and $15 to 2nd.......barely get your money back from getting in. There was plenty time to have double elimination in some of those classes. They need to start either opening earlier and starting practice earlier or something, that 1 loss thing doesnt make any sense....waste of money. I see in the report it says if we dont like it than dont come back....what if more than 75% dont come back, someone will be losing alot of money. With all the other tracks opening up, if things keep going like they are at slades, they wont make it through the season. And the comment about stock fourwheeler running in extreme, i didnt see that myself but someone needs to be more clear on what can run regular 4wheeler classes, i dont see no staff checking bikes seeing if they stock, just like last year they had a 535 motor running in the 350 class, nothing was said. Slades need to tighten up, if not season will go down the drain....Period.

Hi Karen, nice pictures and thanks for the effort of posting the report. The pic you list as the 500-700 class is two 450 class 4 wheelers, Chris Carrol and Eric Bailey.
