The second race of the season was Sunday, May 18th. Track preparation and unofficial practice takes place on Saturday. We arrived Saturday, and found out that there had been an accident just a short time before, which required the services of the Nightingale Airlift.

There are several groups that arrive Saturday and camp overnight. Donnie Hobbs is part of Godfather Racing and rides a KTM. Anyone that knows him knows that he is a one of a kind character and a special guy. I won’t go into details about the accident but please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Once practice started on Sunday, it was shortened to new riders and the big bikes to help save time with what has become the usual impending weather.

The track crew did their best to keep things moving quickly throughout the day. When the rain started thankfully it was only sprinkles. We were able to finish all the rounds by about 6:30.

Somehow, my guys are always in some of the final classes to be settled. We had a rewarding day with a first and two seconds in the four classes we compete in.

We had 20 classes that competed. I didn’t note how many were in each class . The next race is on June 22nd.

We always love to have some more new riders join us. The partners of Tidewater Motorcycles, Pam and Brian had their son, Brandon competing for the first time. I think they enjoyed themselves. It would be nice if some of the old faces from past years returned. Jesse Smallwood, Todd Leatherman, Jesse Mathias, James Mims, Josh and Jeremiah Berryman and Justin Spiers – where are you guys??

Next time, I will try to count how many girls we have competing. With some of the names, I’m not sure if they are boys or girls. But take notice in the 4 wheel classes, we had Jamie in the 301-350, Ashley in the 100-150 and Brianna and Kaylee in the 50-60 class that placed. Way to go girls!!!

I apologize again about the last report. Between my hectic schedule and a new server for Biker eNews, it was very difficult to get the report to print. Most of the pictures didn’t make it through and I gave up after several attempts. I will try to get things done quickly and efficiently the rest of the season to make up for April!!
