Happy New Year!!!!!!! I hope ya'll had a Merry Christmas, a wonderful Kwanza and a Happy Hanukkah. If that doesn't cover your religious preference, I wish you the best of everything. You may have noticed that I didn't get anything to print during the month of December. Sorry about that. It was a crazy, chaotic, fun-filled month with little time for the computer. I have even been busier at work with very few slow spells to fill in. The boss is Duck Hunting this week, so the place is quieter!! Jesse was home for the holidays and headed back very early New Year's Day. We had a great time while he was here. The new hobby to keep him busy in Orlando is Pit Bike Racing. The place he, his roommate and another classmate go to most weekends has a website www.orlandommx.com so you can see the crazy fun he is having. The top of the page is his roommate Caleb in the photo. The first race that all three guys entered was on December 10th. It is easy to find them in the picture gallery; they were wearing their blue MMI shirts. Most of the riders have the fancy riding gear on, they had to be different. When they finished the main event with Caleb in 2nd, Jesse in 3rd (on a flat tire the last 2 laps) and AJ in 4th, MMI got a bunch of free advertising from the announcer. Their next race is this weekend. Jesse overhauled his bike while he was home since he got new plastic and "Monster" graphics for Christmas. His roommate flew home for Christmas, so he let Jesse bring his bike too for Jacob to play on. Most of the time between Christmas and New Year was spent practicing and perfecting "50 Stunts". The pit bikes are actually 125cc but we also have 3 of the old style Honda 50's and a Honda 80 that they have a blast on. Between the Digital Camera and the Video Camera, we got some great footage!! I had an email request for a picture taken during the racing season. I will have to look back to see which race, but it was a Fowler Brother's Race day. Dan Fowler had a rough day and came out pretty banged up. It was the only race of the season that we had the ambulance service called in to look at someone on the track. The picture I took was right before he actually wrecked. You can tell how out of control he and the bike are. He laid on the track for several minutes before he came back around. He was okay, but limping the rest of the day. In early December we went to Elizabeth City Motorsports Complex to watch Bryan, Will and Chris race their 4-wheelers. It is a great place with a lot of different types of racing available. On the motocross weekends, the 4-wheelers race on Saturday and the 2-wheelers race on Sunday. Bryan and Will both placed in their races. I have been in touch with Paul Williams, last year's promoter, but he hasn't talked with Joe Bookman, this year's promoter, recently. There is no word on a schedule yet. I also sent an email to folks at Elizabeth City to see if they have set a schedule. Both promoters had talked about a once a month race season. Stay tuned and we'll keep you up to date.
