Doug Allen’s 3.68 Second Pass

The last race of the 2007 season was Sunday, October 7th. The turnout was excellent with not many places left to park early on. After a limited round of practice, the racing was under way.

During practice, Doug Allen broke last month's track record with a 3.68 second pass on J. C. Martin's bike #10. It was a fantastic pass!! The other Top Fuel A competitor traveled down from Maryland, Dennis Weaver on bike #222. We always welcome a new competitor, especially in the Fuel classes. I have a picture of one Top Fuel A round compliments of Biker Bud's Photos added to this page.

The Top Fuel B class had 3 competitors. I didn't mention anything about it last month, but Paul Williams has a new Fuel bike in this class after the unofficial retirement of the old Smoker bike. My husband, Bill Rannings is the "Rookie" rider on that bike. His first time on a fuel bike last month was quite an experience. With a little bit of bad luck on Mike Cowling's bike and a win against Paul Plummer, he came away with a first place finish on his second official race day.

Rannings Racing had a special day with Jesse home for the weekend and my family visiting from Upstate New York and Northern Virginia. It is actually the first time my Dad has been there to see us race!! Jesse competed on the Blue Harley, #96 in the Hog Gas Class and on the V6 bike in the 500 Class. Jacob competed in the Hog Gas on the Red Harley, #19. Unfortunately in a late round, Jacob red lighted so there wasn't a one - two finish for us in Hog Gas. Jesse enjoyed the win so much, he took apart the trophy and wrapped it in his clothes to take it back to Orlando on the airplane!!

It was neat to have 3 bikes competing in the Street Stock Class. In reality, its plum crazy to put a street bike on a street tire in the dirt and try to go fast!! The guys can attest that it takes several passes to get the hang of it; otherwise it's just plain hanging on!!

I think I have enough stories saved up to get me through most of the winter. Hopefully you guys will find them entertaining. November's report will be the fun at Fowler Family Fun Day, December will be some pictures and comments from the AHDRA Saturday event at Dinwiddie and January will be all about the crew from Yung Gunnaz Racing. Sorry if I spelled that wrong, my folder with it written is at work. Stay tuned throughout the winter and I'll post the schedule for next year as soon as I hear it!!
