We raced on Sunday, September 16th. It sure was a gorgeous "fall" day. There was a good crowd on hand with 124 registered racers. I had issues with my digital camera. It decided to not even turn on when we got ready to start racing. I had my old manual but no zoom lens and only 8 pictures left. So what you see is all I got!! I had asked Biker Bud to send me some of his pictures but he had a bad day with his camera as well. Terrell Allen has sent me some excellent shots in the past but he only had his video camera. J. C. Martin's Top Fuel A bike was ridden by Doug Allen. One pass surpassed their previous track record with a 3.7 second run. If you have never seen one of these Top Fuel bikes go down the track, it is awesome. When the bike fires up, the spectators run to the track side. The ground totally shakes and the Top Fuel exhaust smell is the best!! Everyone on hand could tell it was a fast pass. Lavar Charity was back in action in the 4 Wheel Extreme and the 250-350 Class. The Extreme bike looked better than ever. Lavar was lucky and came away with only a bad concussion and some bruises from his nasty spill last month. Someone had video of his pass and it showed the front suspension causing the trouble right off the starting line.
The 501-600 Jap and 851-1100 Jap Classes were combined into one. It made for some interesting pairings but the smaller bikes did okay with a Kawasaki 500(slightly modified of course) taking second place. In the mini 4 wheel 50-60 Class, it appears Tehyanna has scared away all the competition. She has come to be known as the Pink Girl. One of the regular competitors, Joe Brown has a Kawasaki 500, #V8. The engine let go on Sunday and he is looking for another. If you know of anyone that has a 500 engine or whole bike for sale, let me know and I will pass it along to him. On a similar note, a member of our crew, Chris King is selling his 300 KTM after the last race. It is bike number 97 and has competed in the 400 Modified the past couple of years with great success and the 250-350 Class this year. Again if you are interested or know someone, let me know and I will contact him for you. We look forward to the Fowler Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 23rd. The weather is supposed to be a bit warmer and it will be a great event. I will save the results and pictures for my report in November.
The next race and the last race of the season at Slade's is October 7th with the 14th as a rain date. Come on out and enjoy the last event of the year!!
